Another liberated P-Funk boot here . . .
From a DVD I received in a transaction with known bootlegger-for-profit, Rizzio
NTSC
I do not have confirmation of dates OR locations. I believe this may be portions of DC and Houston during the Uncle Jam tour. George is on stage for about 10 minutes during the entire performance. This was not uncommon during this time as GC was looking to spend more time in the studio and hoping to find others to "front" the stage show. So we get a lot of Gary and Phillipe Wynn out front and a freakin fantastic bit of Maceo fronting/clowning as well. In this strange chapter of the "P", the band plays the Spinners tune, "Sadie", for PW and it looks like PW might have "borrowed" his Spinners wardrobe as well- it was a hasty and controversial departure from the Spinners, to say the least. The first chapter of this DVD is a collection of promo clips (trombipulation, zapp, sweat band, wynn jammin) and a hilarious interview in a hotel hallway were the boys are quite "excited" to say the least . . . knowhadimean. Its priceless. Although George is only on stage a few minutes, do not be afraid of this essential part of the P-history.
Overall video quality is very good, the best I have of this show. A+B- Previous copies of "uncle Jam" were much less complete than this one (by an hour or so) and a generation or 3 worse in pic quality.
That being said, this is another boot from the famous "Rizzio" and I present it to you because I believe the rarity outweighs the BS added by rizzio. BE WARNED RIZZIO HAS ADDED BUGS TO THE ENTIRE PERFORMANCE. see screenies.
