THE CLASH - Mar 8th 1980 Capitol Theater, Passaic NJ, USA
B/W - Pro shot video transferred to DVD
Lineage: Master Tape --> 1st Generation tape --> DVD
A few months ago I tried to upload a DVD of this show that was copied directly from the master tape. The DVD was banned first because another inferior copy was already posted. When the inferior copy was removed I attempted to upload it again but was told that since a few songs from other artists were played over the PA before the show began, the DVD would be banned unless that portion of the show was removed.
I don't have the tools or the time to take the DVD and edit out the songs in question. However, I did find another tape of the show that was copied directly from the master tape. I converted that tape to DVD and removed the songs played on the PA prior to the show. The quality of the DVD is excellent and definitely and upgrade from what has previously been posted.
If you have never seen this video before, you must understand what you are getting. This is not a polished Pro Shot video, which might look like something you would buy in a music store. It is a typical Capitol Theater video, shot buy it's in-house system in black and white with below average lighting. The camera shots are not from the best of angles. There are no menus. Original artwork is included.
However, it's a very good video and it is one of the few complete Clash concerts caught on video. The other copies of this show that I have seen torrented were described as "watchable" or of a 7-8 quality out of 10. This is easily a 9 in my opinion. The sound is also excellent.
